Law & Advocacy

Diversecities Law & Advocacy Program acts as a bridge that connects underrepresented groups facing language and cultural barriers, particularly Chinese-speaking Calgarians, with the mainstream legal institutions. We aim to assist individuals in navigating legal issues and build community capacity through legal literacy education programs.

Our Services

Our Law & Advocacy program offers legal information, legal education, as well as on-going referrals to legal clinics and programs that provides summary legal advice and other legal supports.

All of our services are free of charge and comes with language support through volunteer based community interpretation. We currently provide support in Mandarin, Cantonese, and Ukrainian (other languages support may provided upon request subject to availability).

Legal Resources & Publications

We publish Chinese language articles, videos, and podcasts in different areas of law, including family law, civil law, wills and estates, landlord and tenant, and employment law.

We also provide limited legal resources in the Ukrainian and Pashto language.

Stakeholders & Supporters

The Diversecities Law & Advocacy Program is grateful for the ongoing funding and support we receive from our funders, who support the work we do so we can continue to help individuals in our communities who are most vulnerable and need legal information, support, advocacy and advice.
