Empowering Falconbridge’s Little Artists: A Journey of Creativity and Community
Since October 2022, Diversecities has been creating a positive and lasting impact on the Falconridge community by organizing engaging art and crafts activities specifically designed for children. Every week, the passionate and dedicated Child and Youth Program team visits the community on Mondays, fostering the children's creativity and equipping them with valuable skills. Among the team, one program assistant, Tina Chiu, has formed an extraordinary connection with the children, leaving a lasting impression on their lives.

Supporting Marginalized Families and Newcomers:
The Falconridge community comprises mostly marginalized families and newcomers to Canada. The art and crafts activities have proven to be a powerful tool in helping these children merge into Canadian culture while fostering connections with their peers. Diversecities, with its mission to support community members, recognizes the importance of understanding the unique needs and requirements of these children and their families. It also provides an avenue for the program coordinator to connect with the parents, building a strong network of support within the community.

She finds great joy in their creativity and is grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact in their lives. Working with these children has given Tina a profound sense of fulfillment, allowing her to enjoy her job to the fullest.

Approximately 10 to 12 children participate in these activities each week, creating a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere. As Diversecities continues its mission to empower and uplift communities, the art and crafts program in Falconridge serves as a beacon of hope, nurturing the young minds and inspiring a love for creativity.
